History of the department
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information and Measuring Technologies was established in 2020 by combining two departments:
- electrical systems and networks;
- metrology, information and measuring technologies and physics,
the history of which dates back to 1965, when the Chernihiv branch of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was established.
In 1965, the Departments "Electrical Engineering and Automation" and "Physics" were formed in the Black Sea Fleet "K P I", which for a long time were general technical and gave impetus to the formation and development of new specialties at our university. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation is the ancestor of the following departments:
- "Electronic computers and programming" (1988), which later became the department of "Information and Computer Systems";
- "Industrial Electronics" (1989);
- "Commodity Science and Commercial Activity" (2002).
In the same years, specialists of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation and Physics created a laboratory base to ensure the training of engineers in the above-mentioned specialties.

For many years at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation and Physics taught some of the best teachers in their history – Ryadsky V.M. and Ushakov V.G., who are grateful for the knowledge gained by a huge number of engineers. Chernihiv and regions.

Teachers of the departments of "Physics" and "Electrical Engineering and Automation" have always been diversely developed. In particular, V.K. Bagin was not only a teacher and scientist, but throughout his life he was fond of painting, for many years he was a member of the creative association of amateur artists of Chernihiv region "Desnyanskaya Palette". He participated in many exhibitions of different levels, exhibiting mostly landscapes with oil and watercolor. Now most of his artwork is decorated with private collections of friends and fans. In the Scientific Library of The Chernihiv Polytechnic National University there is a permanent exhibition gallery. V.K. . Associate Professor Bodunov V.M. writes poems and Bardov songs, he took part in the All-Ukrainian festival "Chervona Ruta".
The formation of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation as a graduate began in 1996, when joint efforts with the Department of Industrial Electronics began training engineers in the specialization "Electronic devices in the electric power industry". Since 2000, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation has started training specialists in the specialty "Electrical Systems and Networks". A new stage in the development of the department is associated with Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Tyslenko V.V., who headed the department from 1998 to 2001. It was under his leadership that the formation of the laboratory base of the department in the direction of electricity began, and Viktor Vasilyevich himself launched a powerful laboratory "Technicians and Electrophysics of High Voltages".

Accreditation of bachelor's degrees in the specialty "Electrical Systems and Networks" was held under the leadership of the department of an outstanding scientist-electric power industry in the post-Soviet space, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Zorin V.V., and specialists and masters – under the guidance of honored worker of education of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Skorobogatova V.I., who headed the department from 2004 to 2020.

It is under the guidance of doctors of technical sciences, professors Tyslenka V.V., Zorina V.V., Skorobogatova V.I. and a guest from the Institute of Electric Welding of the NAS of Ukraine. E. O. Under their leadership, 9 employees of the Department of Scientific Specialties 05.09.03 "Electrotechnical complexes and systems", 05.09.05 "Theoretical Electrical Engineering", 05.14.02 "Electrical stations, networks and systems" were defended.

Since the main profile of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation at that time was already the training of electrical engineers, since March 2005 the department has been called "Electrical Systems and Networks".

The development of the Department of "Electrical Systems and Networks" was also made by the Honored Energy Worker of Ukraine Kalyuzhny Y.O. His advice and invaluable practical experience helped many students to achieve significant success in further practical activities in energy enterprises not only m. Chernihiv and Chernihiv region, as well as Ukraine.

The formation of the Department of Physics as a graduate began in 2012, when the training of bachelors in the specialty "Metrology and Information and Measuring Technology" began, the department was renamed and was called "Metrology, Information and Measuring Technologies and Physics". It was headed by Ph.D., Associate Professor Prystupa A.L.

Under the leadership of Prystupa A.L. began the creation of a laboratory base and educational and methodological support in a new specialty. In particular, through the efforts of Ph.D., Associate Professor Satyukov A.I. a unique laboratory of ultra-high-frequency equipment and optical measurements was created.

In 2020, by combining the departments of "Electrical Systems and Networks" and "Metrology, Information and Measuring Technologies and Physics", the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information and Measuring Technologies was established, which currently trains specialists in two specialties:
- 141 "Electric power engineering, electrical engineering and electromechanics";
- 152 "Metrology and information and measuring equipment".
The department is headed by Ph.D., Associate Professor Prystupa A.L.
